Market Drayton was buzzing with energy today as Market Drayton Amateur Sports Club marked its 50th anniversary with a brilliant Family Fun Day – and it’s not over yet!
The day kicked off with a morning packed full of sport, showcasing just how many exciting ways there are to get active right here in town. From ladies’ and men’s walking football, to penalty shootouts, squash, table tennis, and hockey challenges, there was something for everyone. Visitors enjoyed boxing demonstrations, gym tours, and fun for all ages – whether trying a new sport or cheering from the sidelines.
In the afternoon, the celebrations turned musical with live performances, including the Little Voices Choir. There’s still plenty of time to enjoy the music – with entertainment continuing until 8pm, culminating in a headline performance from Colin Browne!
And it wouldn’t be a celebration without great food and drink. Guests have been tucking into gourmet burgers, sipping from the outdoor bar, enjoying a spot of gin tasting, and treating themselves to a delicious selection of cakes – all served with a warm community spirit in the clubhouse and bar.
The event also welcomed special guests including Helen Morgan MP and Cllr Tim Manton, Mayor of Market Drayton, who both praised the club’s amazing 50-year contribution to the town and its role in promoting fitness, friendship, and fun.
It’s been a day to remember – and a wonderful reminder of how much our local sports club has to offer. Whether you’re into football, hockey, squash, or simply love a good community get-together, today proved that Market Drayton Amateur Sports Club is at the heart of it all.
