Market Drayton businesses recently came together at the Town Hall for an inspiring and practical workshop, Social Media That Works for Your Business, delivered by digital media experts. The session gave local business owners hands-on tips for making social media a real driver of growth, without the stress or confusion that often comes with online marketing.
Participants learned golden rules that can transform their digital presence, such as:
-
Never just sell on social media – share helpful content, stories, and updates, and always link back to your website.
-
Engage, don’t just broadcast – respond to comments, ask questions, and create conversations.
-
Plan ahead – a simple content calendar keeps your posting consistent and purposeful.
-
Quality over quantity – visuals and messaging should reflect your brand and connect with your audience.
This training is part of Make It Market Drayton’s commitment to supporting local businesses. Funded by Market Drayton Town Council, these free workshops give businesses in Market Drayton the digital skills they need to grow, reach new customers, and thrive online – all while boosting the town’s economy, and shows the commitment by the council to support local businesses.
Exceptional value for local businesses
For example, the upcoming Creating WordPress Websites workshop usually costs around £500 if run by other organisations. Here in Market Drayton, local business owners can attend for free, learn how to build a WordPress website from scratch, and gain practical, hands-on experience. The workshop will also run as a drop-in session, so businesses can come in, ask questions, get personalised advice, and leave feeling confident about improving their online presence.
Future digital training sessions include:
