What a great day we had at the Easter Activities Event in Market Drayton on Saturday 12th April – and a big thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a success!
This free community event was organised to support the monthly Artisan Market, and it was lovely to see so many families, friends, and friendly faces enjoying the day together. The town centre was full of colour, music, and Easter joy, and the feedback we received from visitors and stallholders was incredibly positive.
🎶 Live Music & Performances We were treated to fantastic live music throughout the day.

Paul Andrews opened the event with a wonderful violin performance blending classical tunes with modern pop favourites.

Ian Nellins followed with a lively set of Irish Folk, Country, and popular songs that had people smiling and swaying along.

Grey Space, a talented duo from Grove School – Charlie Carter and Will Siviter – brought indie energy with influences from The Beatles and Nirvana.

Rounding off the line-up, Miriam Emmas delighted the crowd with show tunes and Disney favourites, showcasing beautiful musical theatre vocals.
🎪 Family Fun & Activities There was plenty to keep the kids entertained too. From spinning plates and juggling to hoop challenges, the circus skills sessions were a real hit with both children and adults having a go.
Craft tables were buzzing with creativity – painting Easter eggs, colouring, making chicks and cards – while the ever-popular Hook-a-Duck game kept everyone smiling (and some lucky winners went home with prizes!).
🍪 Community & Conversation As the children got stuck into the activities, we spoke with lots of local adults about Make It Market Drayton – our new online space for local stories, events, and businesses. It was great to hear how excited people were about getting involved. Many were surprised to learn that it’s completely free to list a business, submit an event, or share a local story on the website.
🎉 Special Guest Appearance A big thank you goes to the Gingerbread Man, who popped in to say hello and show his support! He certainly added to the fun – giving out hugs, waving to little ones, and even stopping for a few photos. It was a brilliant reminder of our town’s proud heritage as the home of gingerbread.
🙌 Thank You We want to thank everyone who helped put this day together – from the volunteers who gave up their time, to the performers who brought so much talent, and the visitors who came along and made it all worthwhile.
