About

Enamelling and Willow Art in Market Drayton

After purchasing my first kiln over fifteen years ago, I began a creative journey that has evolved into a true passion for enamelling and willow sculpture. Now based in Market Drayton, Shropshire, I spend much of my time in my workshop experimenting with new techniques and materials, combining patience, colour, and craftsmanship to create distinctive handmade pieces.

My enamel work focuses primarily on jewellery—especially earrings and pendants—using intricate techniques such as sgraffito, where layers of enamel are scratched back to reveal the colours beneath. Each piece is inspired by the natural patterns, textures, and marks found in both nature and the built environment. Recently, I have explored larger copper panels, experimenting with overlapping shapes and collaborative projects displayed at local craft fairs.

Alongside enamelling, I also create sculptural willow art, an interest that began after a basket-making course over twenty years ago. Growing my own willow withies allows me to work intuitively with the material, creating free-form life-sized figures and animals entirely from woven willow—without any armature. My willow sculptures capture the personality, posture, and expression of human and animal forms, celebrating the beauty of movement and natural materials.

Whether working with metal, enamel, or willow, my art reflects a lifelong passion for craftsmanship, experimentation, and the inspiration found in the world around us.
