As we start a new year, many local businesses are thinking about their goals for 2026. One of the most effective ways to grow your business, gain new ideas, and strengthen your local connections is through networking — and Market Drayton is bringing it back in style.

Make It Market Drayton is now hosting monthly networking sessions in partnership with Pure Networking, helping local businesses connect, collaborate, and thrive. Pure Networking, founded by Denise McGowan, Lisa Savill, and Genevieve Davidson, was created to reconnect local businesses that had been missing opportunities to meet in town. “We realised we were travelling outside Drayton to make connections,” says Denise. “Why not bring networking back here and support local businesses?”

An Informal and Supportive Environment

The monthly sessions are informal and inclusive, designed to give every attendee the chance to speak, share their business, and ask for help on current challenges. Bring your coffee, enjoy a hot chocolate, and connect with fellow business owners in a relaxed setting.

The group also provides a private Facebook space for members to continue networking online, allowing relationships to grow beyond the monthly meetings.

Why Networking Matters for Your Business in 2026

Networking is more than swapping business cards — it’s about building relationships, gaining referrals, and keeping your business visible. As Denise explains, “Networking has been vital in growing the businesses I’ve developed and sold. When people know what you do, they refer you to their contacts, and it keeps your business in people’s minds.”

Five Key Benefits of Good Networking:

  • Build Relationships: Strong connections lead to long-term support and collaboration.

  • Gain Referrals: Word-of-mouth recommendations from trusted contacts can drive new business.

  • Share Knowledge: Learn from the experiences and expertise of other business owners.

  • Increase Visibility: Keep your business in front of potential customers and collaborators.

  • Boost Confidence: Engaging with others helps develop communication skills and confidence in presenting your business.

Looking Ahead in 2026

These sessions, now hosted by Make It Market Drayton in partnership with Pure Networking, continue to grow, helping local businesses strengthen partnerships, explore joint initiatives, and engage with the community. It’s a chance to get fresh ideas, collaborate with fellow entrepreneurs, and make your business goals for 2026 a reality.
