Market Drayton has long enjoyed a strong connection with the arts, from performances at the Festival Drayton Centre to the town’s annual arts events. But did you know that you can also travel from Market Drayton to some of the region’s biggest theatres — all organised locally and without the hassle of planning the journey yourself?
The Market Drayton Theatre Club brings together people who love live performances and want to enjoy theatre trips in a relaxed and sociable way.
From Market Drayton to the Theatre
The club organises visits to theatres across the region, including venues in Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Chester and Buxton.
Coach travel is included and usually departs from Towers Lawn car park in Market Drayton, making it easy for members to travel together to the show and back again afterwards.
Additional pick-up points may also include:
- The Raven, Whitchurch
- Hodnet
- Aldi near Newport
- Loggerheads
Depending on the route for the trip.
For many people, travelling by coach removes the stress of theatre visits — there’s no need to worry about traffic, finding parking in busy city centres, or catching late trains home.
Instead, members can simply sit back, relax and enjoy the journey.
Part of the Theatre Experience
For theatre lovers, the evening often starts long before the curtain rises.
Travelling together by coach creates a sense of shared anticipation as everyone heads towards the show. Friends catch up, new friendships are formed, and conversations often revolve around past performances or excitement about what’s coming up.
By the time the coach arrives at the theatre, the evening already feels like a special occasion.
And after the show, the journey home gives everyone a chance to talk about favourite moments, memorable performances and the highlights of the night.
